As a freelance writer Tom Murphy has produced hundreds of articles on a variety of subjects, including money and personal finance, TV, celebrity gossip, travel, film and news.

Before going freelance in 2008, he wrote travel and security advice for the CityBrief service published by Control Risks (and later International SOS). He also wrote regular updates for the company's Pandemic Monitor product.

As well as writing on a diverse range of subjects, Tom is also a very experienced copy editor: he currently works part-time as a senior subeditor for the Economist Intelligence Unit.
